Cement Brands

Jaypee produces a wide variety of cements, which are specifically designed to cater to the customer’s requirements for different types of cements in each of its markets. All the brands, which the Company produces, are so evolved in their characteristics and properties that they surpass BIS Standards. For each brand, the relevant BIS standards are mentioned in enclosed table along with a comparison with the actual parameters obtained during last 6 months.

The state-of-the-art cement plants operated by the Jaypee Group are equipped with the most modern technology from the globally leading technology providers. Extensive Instrumentation & fully automatic and computerized process control system, custom designed Quality Control software like QSO Expert and CADES in the Mines, Cross Belt Expert Analyser using the Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis - for the first time in India, X-Ray Fluorescence and X-Ray Diffraction analysers and optical microscope, enable production of cement of the highest quality on a sustained basis.

All brands are marketed in attractive HDPE bags, containing 50 Kgs of quality cement from Jaypee. Bags are identified with a conspicuous Jaypee Logo, which also over the years has come to be regarded as a “Hallmark” of quality.

Jaypee markets both PPC & OPC grades of cement. A brief introduction of each brand is enumerated as below:-

PORTLAND POZZOLANA CEMENT

Jaypee Cements produces two popular special blends of Portland Pozzolana cement known as ‘Buland’ & ‘Buniyad’.

BUNIYAD (Blended Cement)

Buniyad has been a market leader among all blended/composite cements in the markets of U.P. & Bihar. Buniyad, because of its unique design and blend, with high grade, high quality clinker, has led to the construction of vast number of durable, crack free* and, durable civil structures in these states.

Fine particles of Buniyad cement easily react with water and form a smooth paste, which results in a smooth surface. When used with sand and aggregates it yields a very durable concrete.
Buniyad cement helps to produce more cohesive concrete and mortar and it is also less prone to segregation and bleeding. Due to this quality, Buniyad is very suitable for the construction of canals, load bearing structures and foundations.
*(Curing is done as per specified norms)

Low permeability of concrete made with Buniyad cement does not allow any kind of bulging in constructions and makes the construction compact, impermeable and resistant to lime leaching.

Buniyad is being used for a number of applications like housing & commercial complexes, roads, wells, canals etc. which establishes that Buniyad cement has proven to be favorite choice of the discerning customer. It is particularly well situated to the tropical climatic conditions of India.

BULAND (Blended Cement)

Buland is the latest to arrive in Indian markets among the blended cement and especially in the markets of M.P., Bihar, Western UP, Delhi & Nepal. Buland in these regions is a hot favorite and in addition to being sold in large quantities is also the un-disputed brand leader. Buland is a superbly engineered blended cement, manufactured with the latest technology at the Company’s Cement Complex at Rewa, M.P. Special care is taken to integrate the highest quality of Pulverized Flyash with high grade, high strength clinker to ensure that the properties of Buland always surpass the norms prescribed by BIS. A comparative of chemical and physical characteristics prescribed by the BIS against those actually achieved with Buland the table below amply elucidates the all round value attributes of Buland.

Unmatched characteristics of Buland Cement viz. very high compressive strength, faster setting time, protection of reinforcement from corrosion, good workability, smooth finish, enhanced resistance to sulphate and chloride attack as well as freedom from attack due to alkali-silica reaction etc. form the basis of any sound & durable construction, be it a house, a highway, a bridge or a dam.

Buland Cement gives the comfort of strength & durability. Globally acclaimed and foremost technology institutions of the country, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Delhi and Roorkee have certified the suitability of Buland Cement in all types of construction and load bearing structures. Results of Buland samples tested by them are reported to have very high compressive strengths.

Qualities of Buland Cement

  • High Compressive Strength and rate of strength gain.
  • The superfine particles of Buland cement provide great finish to the structure.
  • Buland cement provides unsegregated concrete of better integrity.
  • Impermeable concrete for durable construction.
  • Resistant under aggressive environment even in costal areas.
  • Resistance to corrosive attack on steel reinforcement.
  • Resistant to lime leaching.
  • Low heat of hydration – Crackless construction.
  • Reduces shrinkage and swelling.
  • Beneficial effect on workability due to spherical shape of particles and their high fineness.
  • Pumpability – provides more cohesive concrete and mortar.
  • Modulus of elasticity is high especially at later ages.
  • Improved bondage of concrete to steel.

Conclusion

Buland cement helps to produce better concrete & compressive strength keeps on growing with time.

Buland promotes workability in fresh concrete even with less water and hence yields high strength concrete of low permeability. Less bleeding better pumpability and superior finish are thus attained by use of Buland. Hardened concrete made with Buland benefits from continually improving compressive strength and related properties like creep etc.

Furthermore the concrete is very durable and effectively resists aggressive attack of sulphate and chloride ions. It is also resistant to Alkali aggregate reaction. The concrete is not subjected to attack by acidic GHGs as it contains low quantity of unutilized Ca(OH)2

Jaypee OPC-53 Grade cement

OPC-53 Grade has been the mainstay for construction of high load bearing Structures viz., Bridges and Dams requiring a very high degree of strength to negotiate the heaviest of static or dynamic loads.

Jaypee OPC-53 Grade, because of its fine nature, uniform particle size distribution, optimal phase composition, imparts the properties of higher strength to the structures. Jaypee OPC-53 Grade in test properties goes much beyond the standards of IS: 12269 – 1987.

Jaypee OPC-53S Grade cement

One of the very few cement manufacturers having the capability to manufacture this special grade of cement which due to its enhanced quality and performance parameters has been approved by the RDSO and is preferred by Indian Railways for manufacture of “SLEEPERS”.

Jaypee OPC-53 S Grade is also used in heavily loaded or prestressed structures, which are subjected to high dynamic loads due to rapidly moving volumes, be it a train passing on the railway sleepers or a great volume of water moving at high speed to generate electricity in a Dam. The characteristics of OPC-53 S Grade cement with the prescribed BIS Standards IS: 12269 – 1987 can be seen in the table below.
